Joanie: I loved this on the bandstand. It was one of my favorite places on all of MV. Every 4th of July, we'd pack sandwiches, the dog (we had a little white spitz named Doodo-bug) and we'd go at sunset. It was not only to watch the fireworks (which were wonderful) but also to listen to the band. When I first got there, I remember they would have the school bands perform part of the night/afternoon and then the more professionals later on. People would even dance on the grass. (Not myparents, they were too old/staid for that, but we enjoyed watching anyway). By the time it was over, we were thoroughly fireworks watched out, tired and ready to go home, but looking forward to the next year's great fun.
