South Beach

I need a break while I’m unpacking and getting my thoughts together for new posts…

Pictures taken in 2006 by my daughter Deb

… and Carly has a new CD, Never Been Gone, out to prove it.

Carly has re-recorded 10 of her hits and added 2 new ones.  The songs have been updated to accommodate the natural changes  in Carly’s beautiful voice.  As long time fan of Carly’s I wondered how I would like the different arrangements.  Not to worry, they’re spectacular and in my opinion will delight anyone listening to them.  You don’t have to even know the originals to enjoy these songs..just sit back, close your eyes and let Carly’s lush and beautiful voice wash over you.

I had the pleasure of hearing Carly’s new rendition of “You’re So Vain” a couple of years ago at Joe’s Pub in New York City at a small concert she was giving.  Carly brought the house down and everyone said she HAD to record it… and she has, and it’s pure genius as are the other songs on this CD.

I don’t mean for this post to be a review of “Never Been Gone”... I just want to share with readers of this blog that Carly is ‘comin around again’ although she’s ‘never been gone.’

Songs:

The Right Thing To Do     It Happens Every Day

Never Been Gone      Boys In The Trees

Let The River Run     You’re So Vain

You Belong To Me     No Freedom

That’s The Way I Always Heard It Should Be     Coming Around Again

Anticipation     Songbird

I’ve done a lot of these counted cross stitch maps of the Vineyard. Each one has been for a special person.   This particular one, the 9th one I’ve done was for my daughter Patty for Christmas 2008.   Imagine my surprise while packing things up recently to move, when I looked in a long forgotten box and found this done by a very special person in my life…

… my mother.  She must have done this over 80 years ago and it is in amazingly good condition.  Thank you mom for a beautiful surprise.

The Martha’s Vineyard Fiber Farm has changed…

It is now Juniper Moon Farm and has moved to Virginia.

Best wishes for success and happiness in Virginia to Susan, Erin and the flock.

This is my 275th post and I am still, and always will be, obsessed with Martha’s Vineyard.

Feel free to click on any of the categories along the left side to take a peek at what I’ve written about these past 24 months.

Oh and today is also our 46th wedding anniversary, I had fun last year writing a doozie of a post about our wedding day… CLICK HERE and enjoy laughing with us.  And please visit my other blog Through Jersey Eyes for more pictures.

The quiet and soothing greens and blues of summer have given way to the fiery colors of autumn.  October arrives on the Vineyard in a swirl of rusts, oranges, brows and yellows.  Crisp breezes whip the air into a stunning clarity.  Spectacular October has arrived.

This is Ramble the sheep.  He was adopted in 1984 from a lovely store in Edgartown and came to live with us in New Jersey.  For 25 years he sat quietly on the top shelf of a bookcase in our family room.  Years ago he used to baaaa when you turned him upsidedown but he lost that ability as he got older.  He watched our comings and goings over the years and never let on that he himself was feeling some wanderlust in his sheepy heart.

But now his time to travel the country and meet new people has come.  Through the generosity of the humungeous knitting community that populates the US (and online)… Ramble will be spending about two weeks each with various knitter hosts, I think there are 20 or so hosts already to meet him.

His journey will be posted on his very own blog… Ramble the Travelling Ram hosted by my daughter Deb, Chappysmom.

Join Ramble as he criss crosses the country and finally returns home to New Jersey.
